May 16th, chief representative Mr. Shimizu Tetsutaro, president Mrs. Yoko Morishita and some cast members from the Matsuyama Ballet of Japan visited National Ballet of China.
After a visit of NBC’s gallery and the rehearsal of “The Little Mermaid”, the delegation from the Matsuyama Ballet had a warm exchange and discussion with Feng Ying and staff of National Ballet of China. Mrs. Feng introduced the exploration and innovation in art creation of National Ballet of China. She also invited Mr. Shimizu Tetsutaro and Mrs. Yoko Morishita come to Beijing and participate the celebration activities dedicated to the 50th anniversary of “Red Detachment of Women” in September.
Shimizu Tetsutaro and Yoko Morishita have deep feelings to “Red Detachment of Women”. Mr. Shimizu said: “This ballet is valuable. I hope that the National Ballet of China could be in a leading position in Asia even in the whole world.” Mrs. Yoko Morishita wish a further inheritance and development of the spirit presented in “Red Detachment of Women, which can guide the National Ballet of China to the next glorious 50 years.
The friendship between National Ballet of China and the Matsuyama Ballet of Japan has a long history. In 1960s, the founder of the Matsuyama Ballet, Mr. Shimizu Masao sent his son Shimizu Tetsutaro to China Central Conservatory of Music and National Ballet of China. After the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, the Matsuyama Ballet began its artistic communication with National Ballet of China. Mr. Shimizu Tetsutaro and Mrs. Yoko Morishita had also acted the leading roles in “Red Detachment of Women”.
